Frequently asked questions.

What are your rates?

I charge $225 for an initial individual, 60 minute assessment.

Follow up individual sessions are 38-53 minutes, at a rate of $190.

Couples or Family sessions are 50-55 minutes, at a rate of $215.

**I also provide Clinical Supervision to professional counselor and marriage and family therapist registered associate interns pursuing Oregon state licensure:

Clinical Supervision is 60 minutes.

Do you accept insurance?

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part.

Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

I currently accept Moda, OHP (Fee for Service) and CareOregon.

For all individual and family therapy services with Out of Network insurance carriers, while I do not bill your insurance company directly, I can provide a Superbill for the purpose of seeking reimbursement. A superbill is a receipt with all of the information your insurance company needs to reimburse you directly for sessions.

I would recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?

  • Do my benefits cover services provided by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT?

  • How many sessions are covered and what is the coverage amount?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Of note, I do not bill insurance for couples/relationship therapy. Insurance does not cover the diagnostic codes that pertain to relationships, known as "Z codes."

There are therapists in the community who bill insurance for this service, however, this includes naming what's known as an "identified patient.” This means that one individual in the relationship is given a mental health diagnosis, the treatment of which is covered by insurance because it has been deemed medically necessary.

Any therapist who elects to bill insurance using this practice is obligated to explain the risks of doing so, which may include, but are not limited to:

  • difficulty obtaining life insurance

  • inability to secure a security clearance

  • disqualification from joining the military

  • challenges securing a job in law enforcement, or

  • denial in obtaining some healthcare licenses.

It is the policy of Sage Therapy Services to not participate in these billing practices; therefore, I unfortunately cannot bill insurance for couples/relationship counseling, nor provide Superbills for reimbursement.

No Surprises Act:

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept the following forms of payment:
All major credit cards
Apple Cash
Venmo

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, barring any outstanding circumstances, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.
